The formation of metal salts results from the reaction between a metal and an oxidizing agent in the form of salts when the metal is combined with certain non-metallic elements. Their formation is the result of an oxidizing attack: the metal is oxidized into a positive ion (cation), which is then combined with a negative ion (anion) to form a salt.
